Introduction

Extra field is one of the most attrictive features of DNNArticles. If you feel that the fields of article are not enough to meet your need, you can define extra fields as many as you want. The fields can be textbox, integer, decimal. Then you can enter values of defined fields in article edit page. And these defined field can be used as normal field in display template. Below lists some example of use cases.

• You can add Author and Editor fields.

• You can create latitude and longtitude to store location and integrate with Map module.

• You can create a url field to link the article to another page.

   

How to create extra fields

 To add new field, you can select “Field List” from the module menu of main module. You can selet the type of the field. It can be Integer, Decimal, TextBox or DropDownList.

You can see the module page of thi s site. Below each module description, there are three links: Read More, Demo Page and Purchase it. The Demo Page and Purchase It links are created by extra fields.
